HOME MOVIE
TRANSFER & RESTORATION
We've spent over 30 years working with filmmakers and archivists to preserve their films, and we put that same quality and care as we do into transferring your home movies. Your films are priceless, so our process is set up to ensure that we are preserving your family's history at the highest level possible.

CUttiNG-EDGE SCANNING TEchnology
Our company has been trusted to transfer Hollywood feature films to digital for over 30 years, and we use the same machines on your home movies as we do for the features. Most companies doing work at this level of quality have prices too high for the everyday consumer. Not us. We've developed our technology in-house, allowing us to offer incredible quality for any price range.
Your home movies are priceless. We know that your films are irreplaceable pieces of family history, and we treat them as such. Unlike other companies, our machines do not put any strain on your film. There is no hot bulb that can burn your films or plates that can scratch them.
Our goal is to breathe new life into your film. Monitored scans are assigned to a colorist who will work with the film to enhance color and light while the film is in the scanner. That way, we are able to use our custom-designed Ultra-HD optics to ensure that we are transferring as much detail from the film as possible, and that we are making it look as good as we possibly can.
OUR PROCESS
1. Prep the project
|
2. Scan the Film
|
3. Record to media
|
As soon as we receive your film, we will email you to let you know it arrived. If we have any questions or think the project will cost more than you anticipated, we'll let you know immediately and hold the project until we receive confirmation. |
Next up is scanning. If you are ordering a monitored-scan, we assign your project to a colorist who will make adjustments to the film in the scanner to ensure that the digital file will represent the highest quality images we can pull from the film. |
Once your transfer is digitized, we can record it to any combination of hard drive or flash drive (best for editing and long-term archiving) and/or DVD and Blu-ray (best for simple viewing). |
Record your films to:
- HARD DRIVE (USB 3.0, formatted for Mac or PC): Purchase a drive from us or provide your own. Your files will be loaded in ProRes 4:2:2 .mov format and ready to edit. This is the best option for long-term archiving as well.
- FLASH DRIVE: Available on orders that will fit drives 64GB and smaller. Files will again be loaded as ProRes 4:2:2.
- BLU-RAY (HD): Easily watch your films in High Definition in your Blu-ray player. Your project will be authored onto a set of discs (each can hold about 80 minutes) with chapters that can easily be accessed from a main menu.
- DVD (SD): Compatible with both DVD and Blu-ray players. Your project will be recorded to a set of DVD discs (each holds about 60 minutes) with chapters that can easily be accessed from a main menu.
