choose the transfer that BEST SUITS YOUR NEEDS
We offer four levels of transfer. Our pricing breaks down into three parts:
1. The transfer of the film itself - priced per foot for 16mm, and per 50-foot reel for 8mm and Super 8
2. The recording media - once we digitize your film, we can record it to hard drive, flash drive, DVD and/or Blu-ray
3. Return shipping - $15.00 flat rate via FedEx

720p HD BASIC
As the name implies, this is our most basic transfer. We designed this transfer for people who find a collection of film and don't even know what's on it. The film is run as-is, with no picture enhancement from a colorist, and then output in 720p HD. This level is comparable to what you would receive from the vast majority of film scanning services.
8mm + SUPER 8

$9.95/50-foot reeL |

- Not available for 16mm film or 8mm/Super 8 film with soundtrack
720p High definition
This is our lowest cost option for a monitored scan. Your film will receive the benefits of a colorist watching the project and making adjustments in the scanner to ensure that we are capturing and enhancing every detail that we can from the film.
8mm + SUPER 816mm |

1080p High definition
1080p is the highest resolution that can be pulled from home movies, so even 4K and 8K scans will not be able to increase the quality of the film digitization. Our colorists will monitor the film and make adjustments in the scanner, and their spectrum for light and color will be greater with the increase in resolution.

1080p HD ULTRA
This is our highest quality transfer. A colorist will monitor the scan as we output to 1080p, then once digitized, we will take those files and run them through software that analyzes each frame and removes or significantly reduces dirt, dust and scratches. We originally designed this transfer for filmmakers looking to digitize archival footage for broadcast, and we extended it to consumers who truly want to get the most out of their home movies.

How much film do I have?
Many reels have length indicators printed or etched directly on them. If not, you can still determine a rough estimate for your footage by measuring the reel's diameter.
Typically, 8mm film comes on four different sized reels:
3.5-inch: 50-feet
5-inch: 200 feet
6-inch: 300 feet
7-inch: 400 feet

What's the best media for me?
When choosing media, it's important to think about what you want to do with your film transfer. In general, we would recommend recording your film to hard drive. Doing so will provide you with the highest quality version of your film and having your film as digital files is the only way you can edit them on your computer. The files are a .mov extension, so they will be compatible with nearly all editing programs. Hard drives are also the most stable option for long-term archiving and the files will be the best suited medium for converting your transfer to whatever new technology comes along in the future and changes the way we watch video.
A flash drive will also provide you with digital files of your transfer that will be ready to edit, though flash drives are designed more for getting data from one place to another rather than holding and archiving files long-term. They are not built for playing back video files, either, so once you receive your flash drive, you will have to move the files to an external hard drive or your computer's desktop before you play or edit them.
DVDs and Blu-ray are great for simple viewing. If you would like to have something that you can easily watch whenever family comes over, this will be an excellent option. Because Blu-rays are a High Definition media, they will provide you with a higher quality playback than DVD, though you will need a Blu-ray player to play the disc - they will not work on a DVD player. DVDs and Blu-rays are, by nature, not suitable media for doing any editing.

What happens if I overestimate my final cost?
If you overestimate your footage, that's no problem. You will only be charged for the footage that was scanned and the media that was recorded. If you pay by check, we will simply send a refund check back along with your project. If you pay by credit card, we won't charge the card until we have wrapped up the transfer and know the exact charge.

What happens if I underestimate my final cost?
When we receive the film, we will make our own estimate. If we think the final cost is going to be more than you anticipated, we will let you know right away. We won't proceed with the project until we receive a go ahead from you that it is okay to do so. If you are paying by check, you can simply send a check for the balance due, or charge the balance to a credit card. If you are paying by credit card, we won't charge until the transfer is complete, so all we need is your confirmation of the cost.
